New Year, New Office: How to Make the Most of Your Workspace

Welcome to 2023. With all the New Year’s resolutions and fresh starts, it’s time to look at your office and make sure you’re being as productive and effective as you can be. We’ve got some tips to help make the most of your workspace.

5 ways to upgrade your workspace in 2023:

1. Get a Plant:

Indoor plants have a host of benefits, including reducing stress, improving air quality, and boosting productivity. You don’t have to be a green thumb gardener to place some potted greenery in your office. Give it a try.

2. Let There Be Light:

While we’ve passed the Winter Solstice and days are getting lighter, January can still be dark and dreary. Especially if the winter cold keeps you indoors. So make sure your office has plenty of light.

  • Every office has overhead lights here at Evolve, but a warm desk lamp can do wonders to brighten your mood.

  • Consider a light box to fight seasonal affective disorder.

  • Even a string of holiday lights can give that extra spark of light and whimsy.

3. Desk Toys:

Toys aren’t just for kids. Go ahead and embrace the desk toy. Some people like to fidget, and having a few toys on hand can give your idle hands something to do while you think. Play can unlock your creativity and help you brainstorm and problem solve. It’s that much easier when you have some toys around, whether it’s colorful blocks or art supplies.

4. Celebrate:

You work hard and you’ve scored some wins in your career. Rise above the Midwest humility and brag about those successes on your office walls. Celebrate your accomplishments. Frame that degree, headline, or postcard you’re so proud of.

5. Ergonomics:

Your health matters, and that means ensuring your workspace is contributing to good health and not weighing it down. Now is the time to finally get serious about ergonomics. Buy a keyboard tray, install a break app, upgrade your desk chair.
