8 Tips to Help You Make and Stick to Your New Year’s Resolutions
Welcome to 2022. With a new year come new resolutions. Here’s some encouragement to stick with your goals and make some progress this year.
4 Goal Setting Tips
First of all, let’s make some goals and do better this year. What do you want to accomplish? Are you ready to take your business to the next level?
Here are a few goal setting tips:
Take time: Sit down and think about what you want to accomplish. Is this a business goal or a personal goal? Do you want to reach a financial milestone or create a better culture? Spend time reflecting on where you’ve been and where you want to go.
Be realistic: You’re probably not going to triple your income or gain perfection in a few months. That’s a good way to set yourself up for failure. Think realistically about what you can accomplish.
Dream big: At the same time, go big or go home. If you hit your goal by February, you’re not thinking big enough. If your dream is too big, you can always make it a multi-year effort and get there in stages.
Think holistically: Not every goal has to be a strict business and numbers game. It’s important to have goals for self improvement as well. Maybe your goal is better mental health, building personal friendships, or getting more education. Those are all smart and valid and will help your business bottom line anyway.
4 Goal Crushing Tips
Now let’s meet those goals. Here are some tips to help you get to those goals:
Make a plan: So how are you going to accomplish your goals? Make a plan for how to get there. Break it down into smaller pieces. Set yourself up for success. If you want to be more active this year, start identifying how you can do that (the Greenway trail across the street from Evolve is a good place for break time walks).
Track your progress: It’s easy to set your goals aside after a few weeks and forget about them. So set a recurring event on your calendar to review your goals and progress every two weeks. If you’re trying to increase your revenue, take a look at your income and see how you’re doing. What’s working and what’s not? Adjust accordingly.
Be accountable: It’s easy for goals to quietly disappear by February if you keep them to yourself. So don’t be shy, share your goals. If it’s a culture goal, share it with your team and talk about how to improve. If it’s a goal you don’t necessarily want the world knowing, tell a trusted friend so they can check in and keep you accountable.
Have fun: Goals shouldn’t be a dreaded project—have fun. Reward yourself for wins. If your goal is to increase productivity, celebrate when you get your work done.
Here’s to a better 2022 for your business and personal life.
