We're Hosting Twin Cities' 48-in-48 This Weekend!

Here at Evolve, we realize that empowering the greater community is just as vital to creating a great coworking space as good coffee and fast wifi. Our events calendar (which might look a touch sparse at the moment, but we’re working on it) is a major priority, and the style and content of the events we hold in our space are selected with the greater good in mind - always. After all, without providing opportunities and resources to the area, our coworking space is basically just that - space. That is why on Friday, September 15th we are thrilled to announce that Evolve will be hosting the Twin Cities’ 48-in-48.

FORTY WHAT IN...HUH?

Great question! 48-in-48 is a 48 hour event focused on helping 48 small area nonprofits by providing free websites, marketing strategies and more. After all, nonprofits spend all of their time doing good, not looking good. Imagine how much good they could do if they looked good as well?

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Over a period of 48 hours, up to 200 project managers, web designers, social media experts, graphic artists, and other digital experts will donate their time to design business logos and websites, so that the nonprofits can continue to do what they do best--serve the Twin Cities community and beyond.

 
 

It’s certainly no small undertaking, but the 48-in-48 nonprofit team has been running these events for several years and have it down to a science...here’s how it goes:

  • Nearly 100 nonprofits signed up for 48 slots through 48-in-48, and were asked to do pre-work leading up to the web design. Many were able to fulfill the requirements, and a few are still in process.

  • Digital professionals will sign up HERE to participate in the event.

  • Each nonprofit will be assigned a team consisting of subject matter experts, all of which are responsible for completing the work on the website. Most teams will contract or expand during certain hours of the day (or night!), and will develop and go live with 5 or 6 websites each by the end of 48 hours.

  • The event itself is organized in hackathon fashion and, when completed will have delivered over $1.2 million in service.  

 

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

 
 

You don’t need to be a nonprofit or a seasoned web developer/rockstar digital designer to participate in the event; you can still be a part of the Twin Cities’ 48-in-48 here at Evolve by Volunteering as a General Event Experience Team member: help during the event with logistics and supplies, assist in check in, set-up, greeting, picking up donated restaurant meals from Arby’s, Chick-Fil-A and other generous sponsors, hosting the wind-down party, etc.

WHO'S COMING?

Between nonprofits, volunteers and sponsors the list is growing everyday! So far participating nonprofits include the Volunteer Lawyers Network (civil legal help for lower income households), Minneapolis Urban League (National Urban League affiliate), People and Pets Together (the only pet food shelf in MN), and JRLC (nondenominational legislative work on social justice issues) with sponsors ranging from Dunkin Donuts to Delta Airlines (national sponsors shown below).
